Rollatorboxes and Shelters for Retirement and Nursing Homes

Dedicated storage spaces for walkers, sheltered Outdoor areas, and secure bike parking for residents, visitors, and staff. Plus, a dedicated point of contact from the initial consultation through delivery.

Challenges in Retirement and Nursing Homes

A retirement or nursing home serves as a place to live, work, and socialize all at once. Walkers, bicycles, and strollers require space; access routes must remain free of obstacles; and the Outdoor area should be usable even in rain or heat. Planning and implementation take place alongside day-to-day operations.

  • Walkers in entryways and hallways must not block escape and rescue routes.

  • Entrances and pathways must be free of obstacles, in accordance with SIA Standard 500.

  • Residents need sheltered outdoor seating areas, even on hot days.

  • Staff work in shifts and need secure bike parking, often for e-bikes.

  • Smokers need a sheltered outdoor area where smoke does not drift into entrances and rooms.

Safety Through Organized Parking Arrangements

Rollator Garages

Walkers and strollers left in entryways or hallways can obstruct pathways and, in an emergency, block important escape routes. Our Enclosures create designated parking spaces right next to the building and ensure that assistive devices are stored safely, protected from the weather, and always within easy reach.

Bicycle Garages

Lockable BikeBoxes provide a secure parking space for bicycles and e-bikes belonging to residents, visitors, and employees. The sturdy steel construction protects against the elements, theft, and vandalism, while also helping to maintain a neat and orderly appearance of the outdoor area.

Bicycle parking systems

From leaning racks to convenient parking systems, WSM offers a variety of solutions for well-organized bicycle infrastructure. These systems provide secure parking spaces, efficient use of space, and greater comfort for residents, visitors, and employees.

Heat Protection for Residents and Outdoor Areas

Prepared for Rising Temperatures

Rising temperatures and an increasing number of hot days pose particular challenges for senior living and long-term care facilities. Shaded common areas and climate-adapted outdoor spaces are therefore becoming increasingly important.

Canopies create sheltered areas and reduce direct sunlight. Combined with green roofs, they create Outdoor spaces that remain more usable even on warm days while also offering ecological benefits.

Cool Naturally and Retain Rainwater

The pre-cultivated GreenPlus system uses evaporative cooling to create a more comfortable microclimate around the facility. At the same time, the vegetation acts as a natural heat shield in the summer and protects the underlying roof surface from direct sunlight.

With a thickness of approximately 85 mm, GreenPlus retains at least 20–22 liters of rainwater per square meter. In addition, the vegetation traps fine particulate matter, absorbs ambient noise, and creates new habitats for insects and birds.

The pre-cultivated system is installed with vegetation already in place and does not require a long establishment period. This allows existing or new roofs to be directly enhanced with a climate- and environmentally-friendly building component.
